The finding of the Griffon
For decades Steve Libert has spent most of his free time searching for a great lakes shipwreck most people have never heard of. The ship was called the Griffon. It was built in the 1600s by a French explorer who wanted to find a trade route to China. It sank 130 years ago. For a time, Steve thought the Griffon might have foundered somewhere near Manitoulin Island. But just weeks ago, Steve announced he and a team of archeologists have discovered a wreck in Lake Michigan that he firmly believes is the Griffon. He spoke with guest host Barry Mercer.
