"Wild" author Cheryl Strayed live in Portland

Cheryl Strayed, the American novelist who penned the smash-hit book Wild, is ready to see a fictionalized version of herself hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. Her deeply personal book -- which chronicles her struggles with heroin, divorce and other demons -- has sold 1.3 million copies worldwide. Now her story is set to make its big screen debut as a film starring Reese Witherspoon. The Portland-based writer (Torch, Tiny Beautiful Things) tells Jian that she sees the movie as its own entity (one that she hopes will "stand on its own legs") and shares the film-making moment that brought her to tears.
