Paddy Moloney remembers Martin Fay

As It Happens

When they formed in the early '60s, The Chieftains embraced a style of music that was viewed as unfashionable and obsolete and brought it back to prominence. As the group's longtime fiddler, Martin Fay had a big hand in the revival of Irish music. Martin Fay died last Wednesday, in Dublin. He was seventy-six. Paddy Moloney founded The Chieftains four decades ago. He still plays Uilleann pipes and tin whistle in the band. We reached him in Dublin.
