Between two worlds - Part 1

Living Out Loud

Many aboriginal students in Canada face a dilemma; "how can I get an education that will equip me for life and work and a career without changing who I am? Can I straddle two worlds - native and non native - without losing myself in the process?" PART 1 At a 'bush university' in the North West Territories - twenty minutes by float plane from Yellowknife - a small group of passionate and idealistic young people - some native, some not and some half and half - are trying to create a new form of aboriginal education which combines formal university training with "first nations knowledge" which they believe can only come from the land. Who are the students? Why do they come? And what do they get here that they can't get anywhere else?
