In the Field

Thousands of Canadians are alive today thanks to organ donation programs. But what donor families rarely get is a "thank you." That's because provincial regulations prevent contract between organ recipients and the families of the deceased. In some case, anonymous correspondence is allowed. But in the U.S., the UK and Australia both donor families and recipients are allowed to exchange information and even meet. Still, very occasionally, these two groups do come together in Canada.
