Fossilized snake embryo discovered in 105-million year-old amber

They make some people's skin crawl - but a recent discovery has some Alberta palaeontologists jumping for joy. Their team discovered - the very first fossil of a baby snake - which is 105 million years old. Michael Caldwell was the snake palaeontologist involved in this study. He's a professor of vertebrate palaeontology at the University of Alberta but today we've reached him in Cognac, France, where he's on another hunt for snake fossils.
