Eyou Dipajimoon (Cree)

The Director of Justice and Corrections of the Cree Nation Government, Donald Nicholls, was recognized by the Governor General last week. He was awarded the MERITORIOUS SERVICE DECORATIONS (CIVIL DIVISION) at a ceremony last Friday (July 6), in Quebec City. It is an award given to people who have done exceptional things for their community. Nicholls was recognized for his contribution to creating a Cree justice system rooted in Indigenous culture. As well as creating programs and services, such as crime prevention, alternative dispute resolution and reintegration efforts across the nine communities of Eeyou Istchee.
