Improving mental health through physical activity

Playing sports and participating in recreational activities has many physical health benefits. But getting active can also improve mental health, especially at a young age. A leading sport psychologist has linked childhood and adolescent sport participation with enhanced social and emotional functioning with a higher quality of life, and better coping skills with mental health issues. Dr. Stewart Vella of the University of Wollongong in Australia will be sharing his findings at Nipissing University in North Bay.
