BC Ferries is advising travellers to expect disruptions in ferry services to the Southern Gulf Islands for the next couple of weeks, at least. The problem started when an emergency drill on the Queen of Cumberland ferry resulted in damage to the rescue boats. Now the "Cumby" as it's known is out of service until May 15 at least. In the meantime, businesses are hurting because of unreliable ferry service, according to Ian Phyper, the general manager at the Galiano Oceanfront Inn and Spa.
