Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne on the 2018 budget

Afternoon Drive

The 2018 Ontario budget is a crucial one for Premier Kathleen Wynne and the Liberal government. Ontarians go to the polls June 7. The Liberals have been in government since 2003. The budget includes new spending on healthcare, childcare and infrastructure. The biggest single item is a $11 billion high speed rail line from Toronto to Windsor, which includes a stop in London. After a year in the black, the government will once again return to deficit — $6.7 billion this year, with deficits projected for another five years. On budget day, Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne spoke with guest host Emm Gryner about her government's fiscal plan for the province.
