Beyond 94: Anne Callahan

Information Radio - MB

For decades the history of residential school was not taught, and not talked about. But the impact of tearing Indigenous families apart was is still being felt today. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action laid out a path forward. The CBC is launching Beyond 94, an interactive website that measures progress on those calls to action and shares stories of survivors. Like Anne Callahan, who calls herself a thriver. She was born Anne Thomas on a reserve in Saskatchewan where her parents were farmers. The CBC's Lenard Monkman sat down with Anne, and began by looking at photos of what life was like before she was sent to residential school.
