How your phone habits could reveal signs of depression

A Silicon Valley startup called Mindstrong Health wants to change the way professional care providers diagnose and treat mental health problems such as depression. They claim that monitoring a person's smartphone use — such as changes in the user's taps and clicks — offers a picture into their mental state. The company's co-founder Tom Insel discusses this new area of research called digital phenotyping.
