Guns are a necessity in remote areas of Saskatchewan, according to rural farmers. Many of them are equipped with guns because they say police assistance rarely comes quickly — they feel they need to be prepared if they encounter intruders. A group of the farmers have drawn criticism after they showed support for Gerald Stanley, the man acquitted in the shooting death of Colten Boushie.
