Relic of St. Francis Xavier comes to Calgary

The Homestretch

An important Catholic relic is coming to Calgary. It's the severed forearm of St. Francis Xavier, that's more than 500 years old. Saint Francis was a missionary who co-founded the society of Jesus. The Calgary stop is part of a 14-day Canadian tour for the relic, which is usually displayed at the Church of Gesu in Rome. Peter Manseau is curator of religion at the Smithsonian. He wrote 'Rag and Bone,' a book about his travels seeking-out and examining religious relics around the world.
