Canada was one of the first countries in the world to enact Access to Information legislation, to ensure that Parliament, civil society and the media can hold the government accountable. But Canada's Information Commissioner, Suzanne Legault, argues that Canada is falling behind in making information freely available, and that our democracy is suffering as a result.
