The choir will represent Canada at the 9th World Symposium on Choral Music in Argentina this summer. On the program today, the choir will sing compositions by the renowned Latvian-Canadian composer, Imant Raminsh, accompanied by the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra (NSO) Sinfonia. Choir director Kellie Walsh talks about how the Sinfonia's conductor, Marc David, has been a mentor throughout her career. We learn why Raminsh's music delights choirs around the world, and about how Agnes Walsh's poem, "In the Old Country of my Heart", inspired a new composition for this choir. We'll also hear how the choir is preparing for its appearance in Argentina this August. Special thanks to music producer Francesca Swann for making this program available to "The Story from Here".
