The grassroots movement started when the federal government passed Bill C-45 which affects First Nations under the Indian Act. Loon had just returned from visiting Attawapiskat Chief Theresa Spence, who has been on a hunger strike since December 11th in an effort to meet with Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
