Here we go a-mummerin'
Don't be alarmed this holiday season if you get a surprise visit from a group of people dressed in costumes, knocking on your door. ummering is a holiday tradition that dates back to the nineteenth century in our province. How would you act if a group of mummers showed up at your house? Or have you considered going mummering yourself, and don't know where to start? To get some tips we spoke with Dale Jarvis, a folklorist with the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador.
