A year later, is search and rescue better?
The tragic death of Burton Winters a year ago led to calls from all over the province for improvements to search and rescue. People were angry that it took the military two days to send a search and rescue helicopter to help local searchers. The Defence department said bad weather and mechanical problems prevented them from responding immediately. And they said the province didn't call back later, to confirm the chopper was still needed. Well, what's changed in the past year...and what hasn't? Harry Blackmore is the president of the Search and Rescue Association in the province. It supports local ground search teams. He spoke to the CBC's Rob Antle.
