Safety during the deep freeze
With temperatures in the mid to low minus thirties, and wind chills dipping below minus fifty, all of Labrador is under a wind chill warning this morning. The cold temperatures are expected to remain that way into next week. Such extreme cold is very dangerous. Measures have to be taken to protect yourself , your pets, even the pipes in your house. And you should be prepared in the event of a power failure, or getting stuck in the snow. Firefighters in Labrador West train to deal with such matters. Mike Power dropped by the Labrador City fire hall where Fire Chief, Joe Power, gave him some safety advice about coping in cold weather.
