Innu Chief Real Mackenzie - Caribou

The Innu from Labrador and Quebec are rejecting Newfoundland and Labrador's five year ban on harvesting the George River Caribou. Labrador's Innu Nation says it will harvest three hundred animals for residents in Natuashish and Sheshatshiu and will cease the hunt from April to August. The Quebec Innu on the other hand, don't have a conservation plan in place yet. But one thing's for certain, they do not plan to stop hunting... This after already taking down two hundred and thirty animals on the Labrador side of the border just days before the ban was ordered. To find out why the Quebec Innu are still hunting, Colleen reached Chief Real Mackenzie of the Matimekush-Lac-John Quebec Innu.
