The Need for Daytime Firefighters
Providing a reliable daytime firefighting service has become a problem for some towns. The Mayor of Holyrood raised concerns at a council meeting in the last few weeks. Gary Goobie said the problem is that most of the fire department's volunteers are working during the day or they work out of town. But it appears that problem isn't isolated to Holyrood. Vince Mackenzie is the head of the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Fire Services. He's also the fire chief in Grand Falls-Windsor.
