Failed deal for old mill
Last May, provincial Natural Resources minister Jerome Kennedy confirmed a company was interested in setting up shop in the former Abitbi-Bowater mill in Grand Falls-Windsor. Kennedy wouldn't name the company, but said it proposed making wood pellets at the site. At the time, he said, negotiations were serious. Now, the company involved, York Energy, says the government abruptly cancelled the negotiatons and has killed the deal. Leigh Anne Power, host of the CBC Morning Show in Gander, has been looking into the story.
