The Right for Information
We have asked Central Health for some answers to questions users are asking about ambulance service in Gander. Central Health refuses to answer any questions, claiming doing so would be violation of privacy legislation. We have also asked the Department of Natural Resources for an answer to a question about the town of Grand Falls-Windsor's right to benefit from Exploits River power. We received no reply to that request at all. Democracy Watch is a national non-partisan advocacy group for freedom of information and protection of democratic rights. Its members say this kind of behaviour from government employees is becoming more common, and it's dangerous. Leigh Anne Power reached Tyler Sommers of Democracy Watch in Ottawa.
