Appeals in the Qalipu Election
Some people are disputing the outcome of an election for an aboriginal band council. The Qalipu Mi'kmaq First Nation held its first-ever election on October 23rd. Concerns were expressed before the election and on election day about a number of issues, including the number of polling stations and the process for getting a mail-in ballot. Now, at least four appeals have been received by the man who administered the vote. Wayne Green is the electoral officer for the Qalipu election.
