11 year old wins a National Award for his Video of Silver Fox Island

Silver Fox Island in Bonvista Bay had a population of 163 people in 1956. 1957, then-Premier Joey Smallwood estimated that as many as 200 towns in Newfoundland would be resettled. Fifty-thousand people would be moved from their lives in small outports into larger centres across the province. Silver Fox Island was one of those communities. 11 year old Matthew Rogers lives in St. John's, but his roots are on that island. He made a video for the "Canada's History-Young Citizen's" project about its resettlement. His work recently won a silver Governor General's History Award. The CBC's David Newell spoke to Matthew - and his mother Cathy - about the video.
