First Nations - Bill C-45 Protest

First Nations across Canada are holding rallies to protest Bill C-45. They say the proposed federal legislation is a direct attack on aboriginal rights. Rally organizers say the omnibus bill proposes significant changes to the Indian Act... including changes to land management on reserves that make it easier for the federal government to control reserve land. First Nations on PEI are holding their own "Idle No More" rally later today in Charlottetown. Island Morning's Pat Martel spoke with Samantha Lewis from Lennox Island. He also spoke to Don MacKenzie, Director of Intergovernmental Affairs with the Mi'kmaq Confederacy of PEI.
