New Math For Provincial Grants To Municipalities Hurts And Helps
The province unveiled its new formula for unconditional grants to the municipalities, and there are winners and losers in our region. Saint John will be out nearly $1 million over three years, while St. Stephen will receive $160,000 plus. The mayors join us for reaction. The city of Saint John was expecting a big hit... and, that's what it got. The city will get nearly 340-thousand dollars less from the province in the first year of a three year reduction. The expectation is it will drop by the same amount next year and the year after.
