Williams Lake Fire Protection
The Cariboo Regional District now knows what residents around Williams Lake want to do for fire protection. Sixty per cent of those home-owners want to keep fighting the city in court. It's the latest in a messy battle over fire-protection. The Regional District says the city of Williams Lake backed out on a deal it made to provide fire-protection for outlying homes. The District went to court and got an injunction to ensure city firefighters will respond to rural areas, but only for a couple more months. Patricia Barron lives just outside Williams Lake. She tells us what she and her neighbours are thinking about the whole story.
