The government proposes changes to keep mentally ill offenders in detention for longer
Killers who have a mental illness will soon be spending more time in custody. The proposed changes mean that mentally ill offenders held in psychiatric facilities will have to wait three years rather than one year to apply for release. Catherine Latimer, Executive Director of the John Howard Society of Canada, speaks with Stephen Quinn about her concerns over the proposed changes.
