Speed Limits in Calgary

Toronto's medical officer of Health, Dr David McKeown wants to see speed limits lowered by 10 to 20 kilometers per hour on the streets of his city. Here in Calgary, police say the number of pedestrian versus car collisions in the last 3 years is trending upwards - from 450 pedestrians hit in 2009 to over 500 last year. We thought we'd put the idea of lowering city speed limits to our Unconventional Panel. George Brookman is the CEO of West Canadian Industries. Leanne Shirtliffe is a teacher and mother of two who blogs under the name,"ironic mom" and Chris Harper is a Calgary consultant and community volunteer.
