He is the only Canadian to have both swum the English Channel and climbed Mount Everest. Last week, he and a friend climbed a new route up Mount Thor on Baffin Island, and they became the first team to ascend the west face of this formidable chunk of Nunavut rock in a climb without the use of devices.
