Canada on Israeli Settlement Plan

Is Canada isolating itself, politically? Of the 193 countries at the UN's General Assembly, Canada was one of only nine that voted against the Palestinians' resolution for observer-state status. Canada was one of the only western countries that did not specifically condemn Israel's plan to build 3000 new housing units in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem - settlements that would disrupt the creation of a contiguous Palestinian state. Canada was one of just six countries to vote against a resolution calling for nuclear weapons inspections in Israel. Deepak Obhrai is the Parliamentary Secretary to Foreign Minister John Baird. We reached him in Ottawa.
