Sicily's new Governor
This week Sicily swears in a new Governor. Rosario Crocetta was elected in a race that delivered a crushing defeat to the ruling conservative People of Freedom Party of Silvio Berlusconi - one week after Mr. Berlusconi was convicted for tax fraud and as various other members remain mired in scandals involving corruption, embezzlement and Mafia associations. Rosario Crocetta is as far from all of that as one can be: he is with the leftist Democratic Party, a veteran anti-Mafia campaigner and openly gay. We have reached Mr. Crocetta in Palermo.
