And the Winner is June 28, 2011 Jun 28, 2011 | 55:28Today, we kick off our summer season with the incredibly successful series, The Wire. It's won a Peabody, a Prix Italia and the Director's Choice Award from the Third Coast International Audio Festival. And this summer, we're going to play the entire series. It's an audio experience like no other. And trust me, you'll never listen to music the same way again. The Wire explores the impact of electricity on music. And the Winner is A Portrait of Herbert Von Karajan - Part 2 May 17, 2011 | 55:28Mr. Karajan was, perhaps, the most famous and powerful conductor of the past century. Born in Austria, he led the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra for 35 years. He also worked with the Vienna Philharmonic and the Salzberg Festival, to name but two. But he was also known for his drive for perfection in both performing and in recording. Karajan is one of the most recorded conductors in history, with record sales in the hundreds of millions. Part of the reason for this was his insistence on having the best sound possible for his listeners. Such was his drive for perfection in sound that he played a key role in the development of compact disc technology.
