tape SCHMIDT hunger Count 1123

Each year the CBC in Cape Breton holds a "light Up A Life" Campaign in support of Feed Nova Scotia. Depending on the months, the organization might find itself helping 30 thousand Nova Scotians all across the province with their daily nutritional requirements. They do this through partnerships with local food banks. We will talk about how Feed Nova Scotia stabilizes the Food Bank system in this province, but for a look at the national picture we have reached Catherine Schmidt, the Executive Director of Food Banks Canada. This organization gathers an annual hunger count and makes public the most current figures and recommendations for solving the problem nation wide.
