Family Violence - Purple Ribbon Task Force
Family violence is a hard a topic for anyone to talk about, especially victims. That's why the city of Charlottetown's Purple Ribbon Task force has been working to make the community aware of the issue. The task force was formed in 2001 by the Mayor after an incidence of family violence led to a woman's death. Over the last 10 years the group has worked on a number of initiatives and is continuing its work today. Dr. Wendy Verhoek-Oftendahl is the provincial Family Violence Prevention and Community coordinator. She's also with the task force.
