Kerry Campbell - Surgery Wait Times
Prince Edward Islanders face some of the longest surgery wait times in the country. For years the PEI government and, more recently Health PEI, have said they are working on a solution. But according to health care officials, one of the biggest problems is a shortage of hospital beds for surgical patients to recuperate in. Adding to the problem... Island patients are staying in hospital longer than elsewhere in Canada. Now there is a plan for hospitals to start charging patients sooner to free up those beds for surgery patients. Kerry Campbell takes a closer look at the issue.
