The grassroots movement started when the federal government passed Bill C-45 which affects First Nations under the Indian Act. To explain what is the Bill C-45, Roderick Rabbitskin spoke with Cree lawyer Kenny Loon from Ottawa. Loon had just returned from visiting Attawapiskat Chief Theresa Spence, who has been on a hunger strike since December 11th in an effort to meet with Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Steve Dery was killed and one of his colleagues was injured while investigating a domestic dispute on March 2nd. Two Cree officers will attend Dery's funeral.
