Assess the Mess
The Supreme Court of Canada decision on Friday in the case of the provincial government versus Abitibi-Bowater means the province will have to clean up the company's environmental mess. What no one seems to know for sure is how much mess was left behind by the paper giant. Junior Downey worked at the mill for decades. Fred Parsons is the general manager of the Environmental Resources Management Association. That group runs the Salmonid Interpretation Centre directly across the Exploits River from the old mill.
