"Sessions in F" with Tim Baker, Jody Richardson, Sherman Downey, and Maggie Meyer
This Saturday, the Performance Hour presents a "Session in F."
That would be Studio F, at our CBC production center in St. John's.
We invited four artists to take a break from the bars, concert halls, and festival stages. By gathering them in the more intimate studio environment, we get an inside look at the Newfoundland and Labrador music scene.
Our first "Sessions in F" show features Sherman Downey, Jody Richardson of the Pathological Lovers, Tim Baker of Hey Rosetta!, and Maggie Meyer.
They dropped by the studio one night to play a few songs and share their thoughts on the struggles and rewards of making music.
Sherman Downey is a singer and songwriter from the Codroy Valley. Sherman and his band the Ambiguous Case released their first CD, Honey for Bees earlier this year.
Jody Richardson is an actor and musician who has been a member of several landmark St. John's bands, including Thomas Trio and the Red Albino and Fur Packed Action. His current band, the Pathological Lovers, recently released its debut album, Calling All Favours.
Tim Baker is lead singer and songwriter for Hey Rosetta!, the St. John's band he formed in 2005. The group's second CD, Into Your Lungs, has helped make Hey Rosetta! one of Canada's hottest bands.
Singer and songwriter Maggie Meyer released her second CD, On The Side, in 2008. As the daughter of Dave Panting, she's a member of one of Newfoundland's most prominent musical families.
