BORDEN - KINKORA (19)

Candidates:

PC: Fred McCardle
Liberal: Lorne Sutherland
NDP: James Rodd

Current MLA: Eric Hammill (PC)

Riding Profile: While this riding includes a large rural area with some prime potato land, much of the recent interest is focused on Borden-Carleton (pop. 798), which lost the ferries in 1997 and is still in economic transition.

McCain and Master Packaging have been major employers here for some time, and the town is working to establish an industrial park on the strength of the easy access to the mainland created by the Confederation Bridge.
