Riding Profile: This is one of two ridings that make up old Charlottetown. It includes the city’s upper-class district, most of the commercial area of the downtown and the seat of government.

Most of the city’s schools lie either within this riding or right on its borders. While encompassing some of the city’s most desirable neighbourhoods, it also includes less-affluent areas along Queen Street and south of the downtown.

Political History: This district, formerly 6th Queens, had been a Liberal stronghold for close to 25 years. The exceptions included PC Jim Larkin who was elected for the Conservatives in 1979, and Jeff Lantz the current MLA for the district. This is the area that was represented by former premier, and Liberal leader, Joe Ghiz for close to 10 years. His son Robert is the current leader of the party, and seeking election to represent the new district.
