Riding Profile: This is a largely urban riding which includes Montague (pop. 1945), the Island’s third largest urban centre after greater Charlottetown and Summerside. Montague is also seeking to absorb neighbouring territories into its boundaries.

Montague is the business/commercial/institutional hub of Kings County. A number of government regional service offices are located here.

 

 


Political History: The communities included in this district have voted members of both the Progressive Conservative and Liberal parties to Province House in past years. This district takes in part of the former 4th Kings district, where Premier Pat Binns made sucessful runs in provincial politics in 1978, 1979 and 1982 before turning to federal politics.
