GEORGETOWN-BALDWIN'S RD (3)

Candidates:

PC: Mike Currie
Liberal: Danny Walker
NDP: Jane Dunphy

Current MLA: Michael (Mike)Currie (PC), Minister of Development and Technology

Riding Profile: This riding includes a large section of the eastern shore of P.E.I.

Georgetown (pop. 721) has one of the best harbours in the region and was formerly an important port. That role has been diminished, and is further in question as the federal government seeks to divest itself of the Island’s ports.

The Irving-owned East Isle Shipyard in Georgetown has been an unreliable employer, but currently has contracts to keep it running.

The province built the championship golf course Dundarave in this riding in 1999.
