Islanders small spenders on alcohol

Prince Edward Islanders are spending less money on alcohol than most Canadians, according to a recent release from Statistics Canada.
In the year ending March 31, 2012, Islanders spent $701.90 per capita on alcohol, compared to a national average of $724.20. P.E.I. ranked in the bottom half of provinces and territories in all categories: wine, beer, spirits and total spending.
There was one area where Islanders did come out above average. Spending was up 3.9 per cent, compared to a national average of 3.0 per cent.
