Puppy tops 2013 P.E.I. video voting

Posted: Dec, 2013 | Updated: Jan 2, 2014

The video of Mojo, the sick puppy from Nova Scotia who was nursed back to health at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown is CBC P.E.I.'s top video of 2013 –- by an overwhelming margin.

When Mojo, the four-month-old Staffordshire Terrier mix, was brought to the college in February, he was sick and bald from a disease called mange. His story became a hit on Facebook and people donated several thousands of dollars toward his veterinary bills.

The video of Mojo's plight received 86 per cent of the top-video votes, having surged dramatically ahead in the last week of voting. It had been nearly tied with the Stanhope Beach Resort fire video, which featured the loss of P.E.I.'s first hotel.

In the end, only 9.6 per cent of viewers gave Stanhope their top vote.

Meanwhile, the three other videos in the running –- falcon chick banding, busker profiles and real estate micro-drone –- each received less than 2 per cent of the votes.

Mojo's placing once again brought animals to the fore of the top-video list. Last year, the only four-legged critter to make the list was of a fox nesting in a tree. It ultimately finished last in voting.
