ABOUT THE SHOW
For 15 years, the Passionate Eye has showcased a selection of the world's best, most creative, and provocative documentaries, two nights a week, 52 weeks a year. The focus is primarily contemporary character driven stories dealing with political and social issues.Provocative and often controversial stories that help Canadians better understand the world they live in and the issues they deal with. Recent award winners have included the Up the Yangtze (a CBC Newsworld commission), Stranded, and Dinner with the President (all were in competition at Sundance 2008); recent Emmy Award Winners Sex Slaves and Shake Hands with the Devil (also won Audience Choice Award at Sundance), Touring with the Taliban (Rory Peck Award), Academy award-winner Born into Brothels, 2008 Academy Award nominees No End in Sight and Sicko, Sundance Film Festival hit Why We Fight, Michael Moore's Bowling for Columbine, SuperSize Me, 49 Up, to name just a few.
