Some remember her as an advocate for the less fortunate. Others remember her for her impeccable taste in fashion. But for Prince William and Harry, Diana, Princess of Wales, was simply mum — a doting mother who loved having fun with her children.

In the new documentary, Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, Prince William and Harry speak for the first time about Princess Diana as a mother, sharing some of their earliest memories of her.

“She was very informal and really enjoyed the laughter and the fun,” recalls Prince Harry. “She was one of the naughtiest parents.”

Ever since her marriage to Charles, Prince of Wales in 1981, Princess Diana had captivated the attention of the British people, the world, and the press. The attention didn’t wane once she became a mother. If anything, after Prince William and Harry were born, the press had even more occasions to document Princess Diana’s life.

From their christenings to their first days at school to their holidays, where Princess Diana and her sons went, so did the photographers. And with each meticulously documented outing, one thing became apparent: when it came to motherhood, Princess Diana was a natural.

Here are 10 heartwarming, oft hilarious, times Princess Diana rocked at being a mom:

1. That time soothing a crying Prince William at his christening with her pinky finger.

2. Failing to keep Prince William off the grass.

3. Fixing Prince William’s hair and reminding him to wave to the photographers on his first day of kindergarten.

4. Coming in second during the mums' race on Sports Day at Prince William's school.

5. Showing off newborn Prince Harry to his older cousins at his christening.

6. Laughing when Prince Harry stuck his tongue out at the photographers on his way to school.

7. Failing to stop Prince Harry from sucking on his thumb during a meeting with the King and Queen of Spain.

8. When she enlisted Prince William’s help to go get his brother because Prince Harry was “too heavy.”

9. During a holiday in the British Virgin Islands, when she let her sons, nieces and nephews cover her legs in sand.

10. During an amusement park visit, where she joined her sons on a ride and got drenched.
