Cold Case JFK investigates the conspiracy theories that still haunt the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Fifty years later, modern science is offering new information that can help answer the lingering questions around this historic crime. Did Lee Harvey Oswald act alone or was there a second shooter on the grassy knoll?
Using the latest CSI techniques, a team of leading forensic experts run exclusive tests, review the evidence and reconstruct the scene of the shooting on November 22nd, 1963 in Dallas. What should have been a homicide investigator’s best-case scenario—a crime that occurred in broad daylight in front of hundreds of witnesses—became a forensics nightmare plagued by a mishandled crime scene, a controversial autopsy, and a prime suspect gunned down while in police custody.
Now cutting edge technology combines with archival footage and expert interviews to recreate both the crime and the Warren Commission’s investigation –examining the shooting, the assassination scene, the medical information and wounds, and the evidence found on the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository. For the first time since the original investigation by the FBI laboratory, forensic scientists experienced in firearms identification and shooting scene reconstruction review and evaluate the ballistics evidence .
Forensic innovations featured in Cold Case JFK include:
• A test-fire of the exact model of rifle and ammunition used by Lee Harvey Oswald
• High-speed videography to understand how these particular bullets behave in flight and in human tissue
• Multiple wound ballistics and tissue stimulants to test the Warren Commission’s controversial “magic bullet” theory
• New ballistic Doppler radar, not yet available in major crime labs
• 3D laser scans to recreate and analyze the physical crime scene and possible bullet trajectories, including “the grassy knoll”
• A virtual autopsy of John F. Kennedy’s body
The assassination of President Kennedy was a defining moment in history and one that continues to perplex us today. The shooting remains controversial as many people continue to doubt the Warren Commission findings that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. Cold Case JFK puts these doubts to the test of science – with compelling results.
